What is the importance of fasting in the month of Ramadan?
A Facebook post from the page of Ahmed Alhasan احمد الحسن:
“May the peace, mercy, and blessings of God be upon you.
May you be well and in good health on the occasion of the blessed month of Ramadan.
Ramadan is a month of mercy – and not just because we are awaiting the Mercy of God so He will allocate goodness to us and prevent evil from reaching us in the upcoming days of our New Year after the blessed Night of Power. Rather, Ramadan is a month of mercy, because fasting within it prompts us to feel the pain of others and their struggles, and we, therefore, direct ourselves toward having mercy upon them and trying to alleviate their poverty and oppression. So let not your share from this month be hunger and thirst – rather, let your share from it be mercy.
Have mercy upon those on the earth, and the One in heaven will have mercy upon you.”
